About the role#
Hatch is seeking an Environment, People, and Place Student for an internship beginning in January 2027. You will report to the Regional Director and work under the guidance of project managers. This role involves collaborating with planners, designers, engineers, architects, and economists to support projects that focus on sustainability and community-centered design.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to projects from initial ideation and scope development through to final delivery.
- Apply knowledge in environmental field surveys, impact assessments, community engagement, ecosystem protection, and urban design.
- Prepare technical documents, reports, and visualizations.
- Perform and circulate news scans to keep the team informed on relevant events.
- Present your work to team members and clients.
- Assist leadership and colleagues with various tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in Environmental Engineering, Biology, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related program at an accredited university.
- Strong academic standing.
- Interest in a career within the environmental, sustainability, engagement, or urban design sectors.
- Ability to think critically and creatively to solve challenges.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and strong mathematical and data analysis skills.
- Experience in a consultancy environment or performing geospatial analyses using GIS software is considered an asset.
