About the role#
This is a full-time, paid summer internship for 2027 within the Water Resources discipline. Interns work under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling studies. These studies assist in the planning, design, and permitting of dams, reservoirs, levees, bridges, roadways, and stormwater infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Develop data using surveys, LiDAR, GIS, and CAD.
- Research local regulatory requirements for specific projects.
- Define hydrologic parameters and calculate design discharge rates.
- Develop hydraulic analyses using computer models and manual calculations.
- Prepare documentation for quality assurance.
- Write reports, develop permit applications, and prepare engineering designs and cost estimates.
- Conduct field investigations or provide survey assistance.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Water Resources, or Coastal Engineering program.
- Completion of at least your sophomore or junior year at an accredited 4-year university.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- A valid driver's license.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role.
- Locations: Springfield, IL; Chicago Downtown, IL; Sarasota, FL; or Harlingen, TX.
- Compensation: $21 to $26 per hour for undergraduates, $30 to $40 per hour for postgraduates.
