About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Guardian Pharmacy of Columbus, you will work under the direction of a licensed Staff Pharmacist. This role provides practical experience to help you prepare for your future career in pharmacy. You will work in a team environment to support medication management for seniors and individuals with complex care needs.
What you'll do#
- Receive incoming orders from healthcare providers.
- Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing drugs by checking patient allergies, drug incompatibilities, and refill frequency.
- Interpret prescription orders and exercise professional judgment regarding whether to dispense a particular prescription.
- Compound IV, topical, and oral medications.
- Prepare medications for final dispensing, including order entry, filling, and packaging.
- Answer questions from patients, doctors, and nurses.
- Evaluate inventory levels, place orders, and restock station supplies.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in Pharmacy school with good standing.
- Current Intern Pharmacist License where applicable.
- At least 1 year of related experience.
- Advanced computer skills, with pharmacy operations system experience preferred.
