About the role#
As a Retail Agronomy Intern, you will work directly in the field to monitor crop health and support our agronomy operations. You will serve as a key point of contact for customers, providing them with accurate reports on their field conditions. This position is based in Vinton, Iowa, and involves daily travel to customer sites.
What you'll do#
- Inspect customer fields to identify weeds, insects, diseases, and other threats to crop yields.
- Use GPS technology and Integrated Pest Management techniques to document and photograph field findings.
- Prepare and deliver inspection reports to agronomy specialists and customers.
- Discuss your findings with customers to answer questions and provide service.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of facility equipment.
- Participate in technical training sessions and meetings.
- Support general agricultural retail operations as needed.
- Operate a company vehicle to travel between field locations.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A basic understanding of production agriculture.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- A valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record.
- The ability to travel independently.
- Physical ability to walk through crop fields and conduct visual inspections.
- The ability to lift 51-70 pounds.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
