About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in agronomy and operations. You will work under the direction of location management to learn the foundation of the industry and prepare for a future career. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Gain experience in agronomy field operations and crop scouting.
- Operate research and monitoring equipment and technology.
- Apply crop nutrition and protection products.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of facility equipment.
- Build professional relationships by visiting FS locations and customers.
- Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory control tasks.
- Participate in the Exploring Agriculture Internship Program, including submitting weekly activity reports.
- Complete an operational project focused on business efficiency.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies, including OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Attend the required orientation event on May 17-18, 2027.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a degree or certification from a community college, technical college, or university and are in good academic standing.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in varying weather conditions or at elevated heights.
- Ability to travel independently and stay overnight when necessary.
- Willingness to participate in all required training.
- A valid driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and a valid medical card.
- Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) and a commercial applicator's license with required endorsements.

- This position is based on-site in Waterman, Illinois.
- The internship requires a commitment of 9 to 10 weeks.
