About the role#
As a Mechanical Design Intern, you will join our Mechatronics & Design Team to support the design process from concept to implementation. You will work onsite in our Gardena and Carson, California offices, collaborating with our engineering team to meet project objectives.
What you'll do#
- Support engineers and designers in creating, modifying, and refining mechanical designs.
- Create 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components or systems.
- Assist in the development and testing of prototypes, including assembling components and conducting measurements.
- Document results, assembly processes, and test procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve, develop, and review product designs.
- Ensure hardware components integrate with the overall system design.
- Prototype hardware using 3D printing and CNC machines while considering design for manufacturability.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or holding a BS degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience designing with SOLIDWORKS.
- 1-2 years of hands-on hardware and software experience.
- Proficiency in 3D solid modeling, analysis, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with rapid prototyping and reviewing BOMs for completeness.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as manual machining, CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and plastic 3D prototyping.
- Exposure to industrial robots, 6 DOF robotic arms, and industrial facilities.
- Basic coding experience with ROS, Python, or C++.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet United States export control requirements.
