About the role#
As a Project Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in commercial construction. You will work on a project site and receive one-on-one training, coaching, and mentoring. You will track your own progress against core competencies to help guide your professional development.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with project control, management, and site safety.
- Maintain the critical path project schedule and help prepare short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Apply Lean Construction techniques.
- Handle project documentation and expedite approvals from owners, architects, and engineers.
- Review contract documents, plans, and specifications to ensure project requirements are met.
- Procure equipment and materials and track their delivery.
- Evaluate the performance of subcontractors and vendors.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors on technical and contractual issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to travel and temporarily reside at the project site for the duration of the internship.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with a sense of urgency.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with managers, coworkers, and subcontractors.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Motivation to succeed and grow professionally.
