About the role#
This internship provides oversight for plant cost and engineering activities. You will help ensure the efficient progress of plant operations and maintain compliance with regulatory agencies. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027 based on-site in Pleasanton, California.
What you'll do#
- Calculate production quantities and report findings to management.
- Prepare, implement, and test SWPPP and hazardous materials plans to meet regulatory requirements.
- Conduct operational improvement studies and suggest process modifications.
- Participate in safety audits and meetings to maintain a safe work environment.
- Prioritize maintenance and repairs for material processing equipment.
- Manage spare parts inventories and conduct semi-annual inventory reconciliations.
- Support the plant manager, foreman, and superintendents with daily operations.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Up to 2 years of experience in construction materials processing.
- General knowledge of the materials business and plant operations.
- A general understanding of federal, state, and local laws and policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management and represent the company in public forums.
- Public speaking skills and the ability to build relationships with agencies.
- Familiarity with Hot Mix Asphalt plants is preferred.
