    About the role#

    The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is seeking a Bilingual Heritage Programming Assistant for a 16-week summer term from May through August 2026. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, requiring up to 35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead interpretive programs and guided tours for museum visitors.
    • Provide information regarding museum galleries and the CSS Acadia.
    • Assist with special events and maintain high standards of visitor service.
    • Deliver services in both French and English.
    • Review and evaluate existing programs to improve visitor interaction, understanding, and accessibility.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a post-secondary institution, preferably with at least one year of completed study.
    • Registration in the Young Canada Works (YCW) online candidate inventory and fulfillment of all program eligibility requirements.
    • Academic background in history, education, or museum studies, with a strong interest in Nova Scotian cultural and maritime history.
    • Fluency in both written and spoken French.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently with limited supervision.
    • Previous experience in public settings or heritage institutions is considered an asset.

    • Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
    • Term: Summer 2026 (approximate end date: August 29, 2026).
    • Employment Type: Full-time, on-site.
    • Note: Successful candidates must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background checks.
