About the role#
The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is hiring a Bilingual Heritage Programming Assistant for the summer of 2026. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Halifax. You will work up to 35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, for approximately 16 weeks from May through August 29, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Lead guided tours and interpretive programs for museum visitors.
- Answer questions about museum galleries and the CSS Acadia.
- Provide service in both French and English.
- Assist with special events and maintain high standards of visitor service.
- Review current programming to suggest improvements for accessibility and visitor interaction.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary institution, preferably with at least one year of completed study.
- Registration in the Young Canada Works (YCW) online candidate inventory.
- Fluency in spoken and written French.
- An interest in Nova Scotian cultural and maritime history.
- Coursework in history, education, or museum studies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills plus organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.

- Compensation: $18.00 per hour.
- Requirements: Successful completion of background checks including criminal record and child abuse registry.
