Financial Audit Co-op Student

About the role#

This is a 13-week co-op placement for a Financial Audit Student within the Office of the Auditor General of Nova Scotia. You will gain hands-on experience in public sector auditing, contributing to work that supports government accountability and transparency. The role involves working within a collaborative team environment and provides exposure to Canadian Auditing Standards and Public Sector Accounting Standards.

What you'll do#

• Assist with audit planning, fieldwork, and documentation.
• Test and evaluate internal controls and financial transactions.
• Perform basic data analysis and review business processes.
• Support audit teams in assessing compliance with legislation and government policies.
• Collaborate with audit professionals in a professional office environment.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a post-secondary degree program with a major in accounting (3rd or 4th year).
• Must be returning to school for at least one academic term following the work term.
• Progress toward completion of prerequisites for future entry into the Canadian CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
