About the role#
As a Data Analyst Co-op Student, you will support the Department of Health and Wellness in monitoring Emergency Health Services (EHS) system performance. You will gain practical experience by working with health system data, dashboards, and reporting tools to support evidence-informed decision-making. This role involves collaborating with team members across the department and partner organizations to contribute to projects that impact service delivery.
What you'll do#
- Collect, organize, validate, and document data from various sources for EHS reporting and performance monitoring.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports, dashboards, summaries, and presentation materials for stakeholders.
- Clean, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and issues that support service improvement.
- Contribute to ad hoc analyses, background research, and environmental scans related to EHS programs and policies.
- Support data process improvements and quality assurance activities.
- Assist with basic geographic analysis or GIS-based work to visualize service patterns.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program in data analytics, statistics, health informatics, computer science, public health, or a related field.
- Eligibility to complete a co-op work term during the hiring period.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Term: Summer 2026 (4 months with potential for extension to 8 months).
- Modality: On-site.
- Status: Full-time (35 hours per week).
