    About the role#

    As a Data Analyst Co-op Student, you will support the Department of Health and Wellness in monitoring Emergency Health Services (EHS) system performance. You will gain practical experience by working with health system data, dashboards, and reporting tools to support evidence-informed decision-making. You will work closely with team members across EHS and partner organizations to contribute to projects involving data collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualization.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with collecting, organizing, validating, and documenting data from various sources for EHS reporting.
    • Prepare clear and accurate reports, dashboards, summaries, and presentation materials for stakeholders.
    • Clean, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and issues that support service improvement.
    • Contribute to ad hoc analyses, background research, and environmental scans related to EHS programs and policies.
    • Support data process improvements and quality assurance activities.
    • Assist with basic geographic analysis or GIS-based work to visualize service patterns.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program in data analytics, statistics, health informatics, computer science, public health, business analytics, or a related field.
    • Eligibility to complete a co-op work term.
    • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
    • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R is considered a strong asset.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
    • Term: Summer 2026 (4 months, with potential to extend to 8 months).
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours per week).
    • Compensation: Paid position ($19.03 - $25.52 hourly, plus 4% in lieu of benefits and vacation).
