About the role#
The Data Engineer Intern supports data and software development initiatives. You will assist with code debugging, performance improvements, and technical problem-solving. This role involves collaborating with team members to develop solutions, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to reliable data systems. You will also participate in code reviews, stay informed on emerging technologies, and help ensure system understanding through documentation and project updates.
What you'll do#
- Debug computer code to correct errors and improve performance.
- Create solutions for technical problems.
- Participate in peer code reviews to improve code quality.
- Proactively learn about new technologies.
- Communicate and troubleshoot regularly with team members.
- Review documentation and project updates to ensure understanding of system operations.
What you'll need#
- Current student pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Engineering, or Data Engineering.
- At least one semester remaining upon start of the internship.
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
- Junior or Senior classification is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to business leaders.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
- Ability to use AI tools to support daily work, evaluate AI outputs for accuracy and bias, and integrate AI into workflows.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, ethics, and data protection.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of experience with programming languages (Java, C++, or Python) and Version Control Systems.
- Preferred: Experience with AI-assisted software development, automation, and prompting techniques.
Location & details#
- Location: Arlington, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 26th to August 6th).
- Modality: Hybrid (2 days a week in office).
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
