About the role#
Geneva Trading is looking for a PMO Data Engineering Intern to join our Project Management Office for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Chicago. You will gain hands-on experience building tools that help our teams plan, track, and make informed decisions using real operational data.
What you'll do#
- Build scripts to pull data from internal systems and APIs, then clean and organize it for analysis.
- Structure raw data into clear, easy-to-use relational models.
- Explore ways to use Large Language Models or machine learning to automate text analysis.
- Create what-if models to test how changes in staffing or resources impact team goals.
- Work with the Director of PMO to turn data into dashboards and visuals.
- Write clean, reliable code while following best practices for testing, documentation, and maintainability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program in Data Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Hands-on experience using Python, specifically Pandas and NumPy, for data analysis and transformation.
- Understanding of relational databases, including tables, keys, and basic normalization.
- Ability to write queries to pull and combine data from different sources.
- A strong desire to learn, build, ask questions, and take ownership of projects.
- Experience with REST APIs or JSON/CSV data is preferred.
- Familiarity with Git or version control tools is a plus.
- Experience using AI coding assistants or AI/LLM APIs is helpful.
