About the role#
Geneva Trading is hiring a Python Developer Intern for our DevOps team in Chicago. This is a full-time, 10-week paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work on projects that impact our trading systems while receiving mentorship from our technologists. This program is designed to provide hands-on experience in the financial services industry.
What you'll do#
- Optimize existing scripts and tools to implement new features.
- Collaborate with Senior DevOps technologists on project planning and architecture.
- Apply modern CI/CD principles to your work.
- Deploy and present your solutions within our trading system.
- Integrate AI-driven tools to automate routine DevOps workflows.
- Develop Python scripts to interface with AI APIs for log analysis, anomaly detection, and system alerting.
What you'll need#
- Strong understanding of Python, data structures, and algorithms.
- Conceptual knowledge of design patterns, scalable system architectures, and defensive coding.
- Ability to identify technical requirements and design strategies.
- Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to research solutions independently and communicate technical issues clearly.
- Understanding of monitoring metrics and the role of system alerting.
- Ability to document processes and procedures.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Prior internship experience using Python is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants and an interest in applying machine learning to trading infrastructure.

- Location: Chicago, Illinois (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $35-40 per hour.
- Status: Full-time, temporary position (not eligible for full-time benefits).
