    About the role#

    As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will learn how PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) helps identify risks and improve safety and quality within manufacturing. You will work alongside experienced engineers and various teams to see how engineering concepts function in a real manufacturing environment. This role provides exposure to vehicle launch activities and the transition from launch to plant production.

    What you'll do#

    • Learn the fundamentals of PFMEA and its application in manufacturing.
    • Participate in PFMEA reviews, workshops, and risk-reduction activities.
    • Assist with analyzing manufacturing processes to identify potential risks.
    • Support engineers with data, reporting, and documentation.
    • Learn how lessons learned are captured and applied to future vehicle programs.
    • Work with Manufacturing, Quality, Launch, and Plant teams.
    • Use Microsoft, Google, and other computer-based tools to organize and analyze information.
    • Assist with projects that improve manufacturing quality, productivity, and process reliability.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
    • Graduation date between August 2027 and June 2029.
    • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the summer of 2027.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Willingness to learn and ask questions.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with different teams and business partners.
    • Exposure to manufacturing, PFMEA, Control Plans, Standardized Work, or vehicle assembly is a plus.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Warren, Michigan.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid. You are expected to report to the GM Technical Center at least three times per week. Travel to manufacturing plants may be required.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Start dates: May 24, 2027, or June 14, 2027.
    • Sponsorship: This role does not provide immigration-related sponsorship.
