About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern role at the Global Artisan Innovation Center provides hands-on experience bringing vehicle programs, manufacturing processes, and tooling from concept to reality. You will work on projects involving pre-production activities, low-volume manufacturing, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with engineers, skilled trades, and shop leaders to solve problems and support vehicle builds.
What you'll do#
- Support projects related to vehicle build, launch, tooling, equipment, and quality.
- Translate product designs and specifications into manufacturing-ready processes and documentation.
- Participate in build planning, readiness reviews, and day-to-day execution.
- Identify issues and develop practical solutions alongside cross-functional teams.
- Design, test, and install manufacturing tools, fixtures, and equipment.
- Assist with data collection, process evaluation, and waste reduction.
- Create and maintain standardized work, process documentation, and status reports.
- Support safety, quality, and cost objectives in an active shop environment.
- Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to your team.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the summer of 2027.
- Willingness to work in a plant and shop environment.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, automotive, robotics, machining, tooling, or project management is preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, CAD software, data analysis, or lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong communication, organization, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a hands-on, cross-functional setting.

- This is an on-site internship located at the Global Artisan Innovation Center in Warren, Michigan.
- The term is Summer 2027, with start dates in May and June 2027.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
