    About the role#

    The Manufacturing Engineering Intern role at the Global Artisan Innovation Center provides hands-on experience bringing vehicle programs, manufacturing processes, and tooling from concept to reality. You will work on projects involving pre-production activities, low-volume manufacturing, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with engineers, skilled trades, and shop leaders to solve problems and support vehicle builds.

    What you'll do#

    • Support projects related to vehicle build, launch, tooling, equipment, and quality.
    • Translate product designs and specifications into manufacturing-ready processes and documentation.
    • Participate in build planning, readiness reviews, and day-to-day execution.
    • Identify issues and develop practical solutions alongside cross-functional teams.
    • Design, test, and install manufacturing tools, fixtures, and equipment.
    • Assist with data collection, process evaluation, and waste reduction.
    • Create and maintain standardized work, process documentation, and status reports.
    • Support safety, quality, and cost objectives in an active shop environment.
    • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to your team.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
    • Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
    • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the summer of 2027.
    • Willingness to work in a plant and shop environment.
    • Previous experience in manufacturing, automotive, robotics, machining, tooling, or project management is preferred.
    • Familiarity with engineering drawings, CAD software, data analysis, or lean manufacturing principles.
    • Strong communication, organization, and technical problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work safely and effectively in a hands-on, cross-functional setting.
    • No immigration-related sponsorship is available for this role.

    Location & details#

    • This is an on-site internship located at the Global Artisan Innovation Center in Warren, Michigan.
    • The term is Summer 2027, with start dates in May and June 2027.
    • This is a paid, full-time position.
