About the role#
General Dynamics Electric Boat offers a summer internship for students interested in the defense industry. You will work alongside professionals to support submarine operations. Each intern is paired with a mentor for the duration of the program to help you gain experience in a corporate environment.
What you'll do#
You will assist analysts, buyers, planners, and systems coordinators with daily tasks and specific projects. Your work will involve:
- Creating and managing purchase orders.
- Overseeing suppliers across the submarine supply chain.
- Participating in government property control, audit and compliance, inventory control, and general procurement.
- Supporting program management and supply chain planning.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and a US citizen.
- You must be enrolled full-time in a college or university and have completed your freshman year.
- You are working toward a degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related business field.
- You must be able to pass a medically supervised drug screen and a background check.
- You have effective communication skills and are comfortable working in a team or independently.
- You are proficient with the MS Office suite, including Word and Excel. Experience with SQL is helpful for some positions.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- You must be available to work 40 hours per week for at least eight consecutive weeks between May 2027 and September 2027.
- This role is strictly on-site. You may be assigned to work in Groton, CT, North Kingstown, RI, North Stonington, CT, or New London, CT. You will need to provide your own transportation and housing.
