About the role#
Generac is looking for engineering interns to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Wisconsin. You will work alongside experienced mentors on real-world projects, gaining exposure to product development, testing, and system design within the power generation and power tool industries.
What you'll do#
- Design, validate, and bring new products to market.
- Support development in industrial, commercial, residential, or retail product areas.
- Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials.
- Specify functional requirements and design, test, and integrate components.
- Evaluate designs for cost, reliability, safety, and overall effectiveness.
- Execute fitness-for-use testing and process validation plans.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners and product specialists to optimize designs for production.
- Use CAD or CAE systems to model designs.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects and travel to other company facilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Completion of your sophomore year is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Pro-E or AutoCAD.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week on-site during the summer.
