About the role#
Generac is hiring engineering interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Wisconsin. You will work on real-world projects alongside experienced mentors to gain technical experience in power generation and power tool development.
What you'll do#
- Design, validate, and bring new products to market.
- Support product development in industrial, commercial, residential, or retail sectors.
- Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials.
- Specify functional requirements and design standard components.
- Evaluate designs for cost, reliability, safety, and effectiveness.
- Develop and execute testing and process validation plans.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners, designers, and internal specialists.
- Use CAD or CAE systems to model designs.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects.
- Travel to other Generac facilities as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelors or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Completion of your sophomore year is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Pro-E or AutoCAD.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer.
