    About the role#

    The Purification, Microbiology, and Virology (PMV) department develops, characterizes, and implements purification processes for recombinant proteins and therapeutics. This internship offers experience in process development, commercial product support, and innovation projects ranging from laboratory to manufacturing scales. You will work alongside scientists and engineers to support the production of therapeutics for patients.

    What you'll do#

    • Design, execute, and analyze wet-lab, dry-lab, or digital-based experiments.
    • Support process development, commercial product support, continuous improvement, and innovation projects.
    • Implement microbial and virus control processes.
    • Present your final project work to senior leaders.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology.
    • Relevant work experience in research labs or the biotechnology industry.
    • Knowledge of large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing, including chromatography, filtration, and UF/DF.
    • Understanding of scale-up and scale-down principles, cGMP/GLP requirements, and statistical data analysis.
    • Experience with protein work, AKTA Avant Chromatography, HPLC-SEC, UV-Vis, and lab automation tools like robotic liquid handlers.
    • Familiarity with Normal Flow Filtration and Tangential Flow Filtration.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently or in teams.

    • Location: South San Francisco, California.
    • Term: Winter 2027 start.
    • Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
    • Status: Paid internship.
