    About the role#

    This internship is part of the Pharmaceutical Technical Development group. You will focus on analytical projects involving capillary electrophoresis to evaluate next-generation technologies. This role provides a broad perspective on how new processes and methods are developed within the biotechnology industry.

    What you'll do#

    • Evaluate Sciex native fluorescence detection as a dye-free alternative to traditional UV and laser-induced fluorescence methods.
    • Help create a roadmap for high-throughput, dye-free sample preparation to reduce manual effort and reagent costs.
    • Assess the BioPhase 8800 platform to enable multi-capillary analysis and streamline lab workflows.
    • Complete technology evaluations to inform capital purchasing decisions and define implementation pathways for R&D and GMP testing environments.
    • Work with scientists to design, execute, and analyze wet-lab experiments.
    • Maintain rigorous documentation and share your findings with cross-functional stakeholders.

    What you'll need#

    • You must have attained a Bachelor's degree or be currently pursuing a Master's degree.
    • Relevant majors include Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Biophysics.
    • You are detail-oriented, self-directed, and capable of adapting to new challenges.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills are required.
    • An interest in advanced separation techniques like CE-SDS is expected.

    Location & details#

    • This role is located on-site in South San Francisco, California.
    • The internship is a full-time, paid position starting in January 2027.
    • The program duration is six months, with the possibility of a six-month extension.
    • Compensation is $32.00 to $41.00 per hour, plus paid holiday time off.
