About the role#
GEMTEC Consulting Engineers & Scientists Limited is hiring a Field Technician for a Fall 2026 co-op position based in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a paid, on-site, full-time role offering a compensation range of $20.50 to $23.50 CAD per hour. The position begins in September 2026.
What you'll do#
- Perform field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
- Conduct compaction testing of subgrade soils, aggregates, and asphalt.
- Carry out subgrade and foundation inspections.
- Complete various office and field tasks related to materials testing, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering.
- Handle other duties as required.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a College Diploma in civil technology or an equivalent program.
- Experience with materials testing and inspection.
- Experience working in civil construction.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
