About the role#
GHD is seeking an Indigenous Engineer Intern or co-op student to join the Design and Project Management groups. This role supports projects related to First Nation solid waste management, environmental remediation, water management, renewable energy, and emergency response planning. The team provides technical assistance to Indigenous communities across Canada to develop recycling systems, improve waste collection, and reduce diesel combustion in off-grid areas. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with client and contractor communications, including the preparation and delivery of presentations and meeting records.
- Meet with Indigenous community representatives to determine local needs and objectives, which may include preliminary site visits.
- Conduct research for various projects.
- Prepare documentation such as Indigenous Services Canada funding applications, project progress and completion reports, and project memorandums.
- Provide support for general project administration tasks.
- Participate in design and project team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Post-secondary education (currently enrolled or recent graduate) or an equivalent combination of education and work or life experience.
- Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates (First Nations status or non-status, Metis, and Inuit).
- Demonstrated interest in science, engineering, or the environment through work, education, or volunteer experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a positive attitude.
- A valid driver's license.
