About the role#
GEICO is hiring interns for the Actuarial team within the CFO organization. This program provides exposure to insurance operations, data analysis, and business strategy. You will work alongside professional analysts to support projects that influence company profitability and growth. This is a paid, part-time summer 2027 internship.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with analysts on actuarial projects and data analysis.
- Conduct reserving analysis, claim trend analysis, and frequency or severity projections.
- Develop and present your findings and proposals to various stakeholder groups.
- Participate in insurance, actuarial, and technical training sessions.
- Attend departmental meetings, internship forums, and networking events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Math, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Expected graduation by May 2028 and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
- Basic skills in data analysis tools such as R, SAS, SQL, Python, or Power BI.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work with detail, and maintain organization.
- Intellectual curiosity and self-motivation.

Location & details#
- Locations: Bethesda, Maryland or Chicago, Illinois.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (must work from the office at least three days per week).
- Residency: You must live within a commutable distance of the office location.
