About the role#
GEI Consultants is seeking a Construction Technician Intern for our Marquette, Michigan office. This role involves working alongside engineers, contractors, and public works personnel to support infrastructure projects through construction observation, materials testing, and data collection.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction observation and maintain detailed documentation.
- Collect and conduct field and laboratory tests on soil and concrete materials.
- Describe and classify soil samples.
- Report daily progress and any issues encountered in the field to your supervisor.
- Travel to various project sites, which may include overnight travel.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma; an Associate degree in Engineering Technology or current pursuit of a Bachelor degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geology Engineering is preferred.
- Previous experience in construction inspection and testing, specifically with soils, concrete, and bituminous paving.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Certifications from ACI or the State of Michigan are highly desired.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and surveying equipment is a plus.
