    About the role#

    As a mechanical calculation intern, you will join the hydro turbine and alternator design teams. You will work alongside experienced engineering professionals to support the design and validation of mechanical components. This role involves active participation in achieving team goals and objectives through technical analysis and documentation.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform finite element analyses to validate the structural mechanical resistance of turbine and alternator components for new and refurbished machines.
    • Conduct fatigue analyses in accordance with ASME standards.
    • Validate the mechanical integrity of welds for static and fatigue conditions using CSA W59 and AWS D1.1 codes.
    • Provide support to other engineering groups by performing complementary calculations.
    • Write calculation notes in French or English for internal stakeholders and clients.
    • Participate in the creation of design guides.

    What you'll need#

    • Completed at least two university years in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
    • Less than 2 years of work experience, excluding co-ops or internships.
    • Knowledge of basic finite element analysis concepts.
    • Familiarity with strength of materials, fluid mechanics, and vibrations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CAD software.
    • Mastery of written English. Oral English skills are an asset.
