About the role#
GE Vernova is looking for a university student to join the Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) team. You will support the integration, configuration, and implementation of software solutions for utility customers. This role focuses on how utilities manage modern, digital power systems. You will work alongside solution architects, software engineers, and domain experts to deliver technology that monitors and coordinates energy resources like solar, batteries, and electric vehicles.
What you'll do#
- Support the integration and configuration of DERMS solutions for utility clients.
- Assist the team with software, system, and utility platform integration activities.
- Analyze technical requirements and translate them into implementation steps.
- Help test interfaces between DERMS and external systems like ADMS, SCADA, and GIS.
- Assist with system integration testing, functional testing, and defect investigation.
- Develop an understanding of APIs, data flows, and system-to-system communication.
- Support technical documentation and software deployment procedures.
- Work with engineering teams to investigate issues and identify improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Previous internship or industry experience within a utility, electricity, or energy organization.
- Demonstrated interest in electricity grids, utility operations, and Distributed Energy Resources.
- Willingness to learn complex technical and utility-domain concepts.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and customer-facing teams.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Familiarity with software implementation, REST APIs, SQL, or scripting languages like Python is helpful.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is remote, with options based in Melbourne or Perth, Canada.
- The position follows a rolling term.
