About the role#
The Clinical Student Intern provides prevention and intervention services to children, youth, and families. You will help clients address mental health, trauma, peer relationships, and family support needs. This is an unpaid, full-time internship based in North Bend and Duvall, Washington.
What you'll do#
- Provide evidence-based and culturally responsive therapy to youth and families.
- Conduct individual and family sessions while building proficiency in short-term clinical work.
- Learn crisis intervention practices and offer support to assigned clients.
- Co-lead therapeutic groups and assist in their development.
- Dedicate 50 percent of your weekly hours to direct service.
- Attend weekly supervision meetings and participate in staff case consultations.
- Maintain accurate, timely case records and stay familiar with community resources.
- Coordinate with your supervisor regarding your schedule and academic evaluation requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a master’s degree program in counseling or a related field.
- An undergraduate degree in psychology or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, youth, or young adults.
- Ability to engage with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Knowledge of coping skills, crisis intervention, and supportive strategies.
- Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries.
- You must pass a criminal history check and a tuberculosis test.
- A valid Washington State driver's license, reliable transportation, a safe driving record, and auto liability insurance are required.
- You must complete CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification within 30 days of starting.
