About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Fall 2026 term. You will work on-site in Morenci, Arizona, gaining hands-on experience by supporting operations and participating in various engineering projects. Depending on assignment, you may work in areas such as Long Range Planning, Short Range Planning, Ore Control, Surveying, Technical Support, or Geology. This position is eligible for immigration work visa sponsorship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with engineering projects ranging from conventional to complex tasks.
- Help with layout and design, specification development, new product evaluation, and data collection.
- Coordinate mining, mechanical, and civil engineering projects, including developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and project information packages.
- Evaluate current systems to implement optimizations that improve efficiency.
- Manage project tasks such as budgeting, purchasing, construction, and quality control.
- Use new technology to improve safety, cost controls, and environmental protection.
- Collaborate with operating and maintenance departments to solve problems and implement new technology.
- Promote teamwork and positive employee relations.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment at an accredited four-year university or graduation within the last 12 months in Mining Engineering or a related Engineering field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to understand and follow safety instructions and procedures in English.

- Physical requirements include the ability to stand, sit, climb stairs, and lift up to 30 pounds. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, and safety footwear when working in mine or plant environments.
