About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site in Phoenix, Arizona. This program is open to students currently enrolled in an associate degree or certification program, as well as recent graduates who finished their program within 12 months of the start date. Please note that Freeport-McMoRan does not provide immigration work visa sponsorship for this position.
What you'll do#
- Interface between technicians, engineers, operations, and maintenance personnel.
- Assist with the installation, calibration, diagnostics, and maintenance of industrial automation equipment, including instrumentation, industrial communications, and control systems like DCS, HMI, and PLC.
- Troubleshoot, design, and program process automation systems.
- Gain exposure to project management and maintenance workflows.
- Participate in safety and environmental programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or a recent degree/certification in electronics, electrical, instrumentation, or a relevant field.
- Ability to understand and communicate work and safety instructions in English.
- Capacity to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs and ladders, working on elevated platforms, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

- Location: Phoenix, Arizona.
- Work environment: You will work in office, mine, or manufacturing plant settings. These environments include exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, moving mechanical parts, and potential hazards like fumes or airborne particles.
- Safety requirements: You must wear personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear. This role is designated as safety-sensitive.
