About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in Health & Safety and Industrial Hygiene within the mining industry. You will work alongside a mentor to solve real-world problems and help keep our operations safe. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027. You will spend your time in the field to identify hazards, support incident investigations, and engage directly with our workforce to promote safety policies.
What you'll do#
- Identify health and safety hazards in mine, processing, and manufacturing areas.
- Develop corrective action plans and conduct fatal risk management assessments.
- Attend daily lineout meetings and safety tailgate meetings to discuss safety topics.
- Support incident investigations to determine root causes.
- Inspect work areas and facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with onboarding contract employees.
- Develop emergency response and evacuation plans.
- Coordinate daily safety activities and help plan jobs to mitigate risks.
- Interact with company leaders to discuss tactical steps for reducing workplace exposure.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment at an accredited four-year university in Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Recent graduates who earned their degree within 12 months of the internship start date are also eligible.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate safety instructions clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Capacity to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
