About the role#
This is a temporary, full-time paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site in Phoenix, Arizona, gaining experience in heavy equipment maintenance within the mining industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, including haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and motor graders.
- Perform maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, pumps, motors, differentials, and final drives.
- Carry out preventative maintenance tasks.
- Complete work orders and maintain relevant documentation.
- Operate small mobile equipment, forklifts, and cranes as needed.
- Conduct work area inspections and perform housekeeping duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate degree or certification program in a mechanical or relevant field.
- Recent graduates who earned an associate degree or certification in a mechanical or relevant field within 12 months of the internship start date are also eligible.
- Proficiency in English to understand and communicate safety instructions and work procedures.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work in environments that include exposure to fumes, temperature extremes, and moving mechanical parts.
