    About the role#

    This 8-month co-op position offers exposure to the engineering and operating groups at FortisBC. You will work on projects related to the design and operation of the gas system while collaborating with engineers and managers across different departments.

    What you'll do#

    • Design natural gas facilities and pipelines, including equipment sizing, selection, and stress analysis.
    • Complete engineering assessments to identify infrastructure deficiencies and opportunities.
    • Write reports and proposals for existing and proposed projects.
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support the completion of capital projects.
    • Research and develop design standards while ensuring compliance with industry codes.
    • Recommend process improvements to internal operations.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering program with a focus on Mechanical Engineering, preferably in your third or fourth year.
    • Active enrollment in a formal Co-op program.
    • A valid driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract.
    • Experience or knowledge of CAD applications.
    • Ability to interpret mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience writing reports and memos in a corporate environment.
    • Strong communication skills to work with a variety of people.
    • An interest in the utility sector and energy industry.

    • Term: Winter 2027 (8-month duration).
    • Status: Full-time, paid co-op position.
