About the role#
This is an 8-month full-time co-op position starting in January 2027. You will work with the Stations Engineering group to support substation construction projects. You will engage with designers, engineers, and managers across the organization to gain insight into how our operating and engineering groups function.
What you'll do#
- Provide capital project support for substation construction projects, including circuit breaker, switch, and battery system replacements.
- Perform basic electrical power calculations and help select and size substation equipment.
- Conduct electrical drawing wire checks to verify that wiring diagrams match electrical schematics.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers and construction managers.
- Perform site visits to support project work and gain a better understanding of the transmission and distribution system.
- Research technical information regarding new utility products and industry practices.
- Participate in the design and development of substation standards and equipment specifications.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering program, specifically Electrical or Mechanical, with a preference for third or fourth-year students.
- Active enrollment in a university co-op program.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of or experience with AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to speak publicly.
- An interest in the electrical utility industry.
