    About the role#

    The Banking Automation Engineer Intern supports the design, development, testing, and documentation of automated solutions. You will work to improve efficiency, reduce manual processes, and enhance operational accuracy across banking functions like Risk, Operations, Finance, and Treasury. This is a developmental role where you will gain hands-on experience with Python and cloud-based technologies under the guidance of senior team members.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with designing, developing, and testing automation solutions using Python and workflow platforms.
    • Support automation scripts for data processing, reporting, and operational tasks.
    • Translate requirements into small, maintainable automation components.
    • Gain exposure to developing and deploying workflows using AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
    • Partner with engineers and stakeholders to understand process design and requirements.
    • Participate in testing for accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
    • Work with structured data using SQL and cloud platforms like Snowflake.
    • Document automation logic, workflows, test results, and architecture.
    • Follow established coding standards, version control practices, and internal audit requirements.
    • Provide basic support and troubleshooting for existing automation processes.

    What you'll need#

    • Current pursuit of an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
    • Academic, personal, or project-based experience with Python or a similar programming language.
    • Basic familiarity with SQL, relational databases, spreadsheets, or data processing.
    • A foundational understanding of automation and cloud computing concepts.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and complete assignments with guidance.
    • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and cloud platforms.
    • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid internship.
    • The role is based in Omaha, Nebraska.
    • Work is performed in a hybrid capacity, typically balancing three days of in-person collaboration with two days of remote work.
