About the role#
This co-op position is open to current Northeastern University students. You will join the Protein Science team at Metaphore Biotechnologies for a full-time, on-site engagement from January 2027 to June 2027. You will contribute to the Developability Program by performing hands-on experimental work, supporting analytical assay development, and synthesizing data to inform scientific decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Develop and optimize analytical assays to support company programs.
- Execute and analyze data from a suite of analytical assays, including QC and kinetics or affinity assessments.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of UPLC-based separation methods, such as Reversed Phase, Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography, and Ion-Exchange Chromatography.
- Research and develop methods for developability assessments, including AC-SINS, ELISA, and Poly-reactivity.
- Draft and update protocols, SOPs, and Benchling templates.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation and tracking.
- Ability to analyze large data sets, identify patterns, and draw conclusions.
- Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Curiosity and a strong desire to learn.
- Experience with analytical techniques like HPLC/UPLC separation, thermal stability assessment (DLS, nanoDSF), and binding or affinity assessment (BLI or SPR) is preferred.
- Familiarity with SDS-PAGE and plate-based assays (ELISA) is preferred.
- Experience in wet lab techniques, such as pipetting, is preferred.

- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to June).
- Modality: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week on-site.
- Compensation: $25 to $35 per hour.
