About the role#
Five Star Bank offers a Summer Associate Program for students interested in a career in financial services. As a Banking Operations Summer Associate, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting core operational functions. You will work alongside seasoned professionals on projects related to deposit operations, payment processing, account servicing, and quality control. This role involves contributing to work that supports our clients and the community.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day banking operations, including deposit operations, item processing, and account maintenance.
- Assist with reconciling transactions, processing exceptions, and performing quality checks.
- Research and resolve internal inquiries regarding transaction activity and account servicing.
- Participate in the processing and verification of ACH transactions, check clearing, stop payments, and returned items.
- Contribute to the review and enhancement of standard operating procedures.
- Assist with operational reporting, documentation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure service and compliance standards are met.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or a related field. Junior-level standing or higher is preferred.
- At least 1 year of involvement in clubs, volunteerism, or other activities outside the classroom.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- A self-starter mindset with attention to detail and a desire to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling is a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience, including teamwork and leading by example.
Location & details#
- Location: Corporate HQ in Warsaw, NY.
- Term: Summer 2027, starting in June.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week.
- Work Modality: Hybrid. Occasional travel within the corporate footprint, including Buffalo and Rochester, is required.
- Employment Type: Full-time, paid internship.
