About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship focused on commercial banking. You will learn about the products and services provided to commercial customers while gaining experience in credit risk assessment, financial data analysis, and portfolio management. You will also get exposure to the commercial banking sales cycle and the team-based credit decision process.
What you'll do#
- Complete trend reports for borrowing base certificates.
- Handle covenant monitoring and annual credit reviews.
- Attend and participate in loan committees and opportunity memorandum discussions.
- Partner with relationship managers on prospecting activities and client calls.
- Monitor loan maturity dates and recommend renewal strategies.
- Participate in a coordinated community service project.
- Present your accomplishments and key learnings to senior leadership at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in a Bachelor or higher degree program at an accredited college or university, with a major in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week from May 17th to August 6th, 2027.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A demonstrated interest in the financial services industry.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint.
