About the role#
The US reach and subscriber engagement team helps our journalism reach a wider audience. You will work within the newsroom to help conceive, shape, and implement engagement strategies. This ten-week summer internship allows you to develop ideas that drive growth and present your work to US leadership. You will be paired with a dedicated buddy for mentorship throughout the program.
What you'll do#
- Develop original ideas, experiments, and engagement strategies for breaking news and special projects.
- Assist the social media team with daily posts to keep our channels current.
- Create original content for social media, such as charts, social cards, and videos.
- Support reader participation and community projects.
- Use data and insights to analyze audience behavior and inform our editorial approach.
- Provide guidance on SEO and social trends using web listening tools.
- Produce panels to promote our stories on Google Showcase.
What you'll need#
- Experience in journalism, including work for student publications.
- Strong news judgment and writing skills.
- Experience with design tools like Adobe Suite and video editing.
- Ability to organize and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
- A curious mindset and interest in making journalism accessible to broader audiences.
- Current authorization to work in the US.

- Location: New York, NY.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid (minimum of three days per week in the office).
- Compensation: $22 per hour for 40 hours per week.
- Majors: Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
