About the role#
As a Data Journalism Summer Intern, you will join our interdisciplinary team in New York. We focus on data visualization, analysis, and news writing for enterprise and interactive stories. You will work alongside our US data team and colleagues in London to enhance reporting through empirical analysis and original visual storytelling.
What you'll do#
- Source, collect, and clean data for news stories and various editorial pieces.
- Create data graphics and perform analyses, often under tight deadlines.
- Collaborate with the US data team and London-based colleagues on large-scale projects.
- Partner with beat reporters to conceive and build effective graphics.
- Pitch and produce original stories for editors in New York and London.
What you'll need#
- A proven interest in data journalism and experience analyzing datasets within a journalistic context.
- Experience creating clear and engaging graphics using tools such as Flourish, Datawrapper, or ggplot2.
- Strong writing and communication skills. Prior experience in news reporting and writing is an advantage.
- Familiarity with US data sources, particularly in the fields of finance, economics, and politics.
- Programming fluency in a language of your choice is an advantage.
- Specific knowledge of business, economics, and financial markets is an advantage.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid (minimum three days per week in the office).
- Compensation: $22 per hour for 40 hours per week.
- Status: Full-time internship.
