Figure is seeking a Firmware Intern for the Fall 2026 term to support the development of autonomous humanoid robots. This role focuses on board bring-up, feature development, and hardware-software integration within the lab environment.
What you'll do#
- Design, implement, and test firmware in C or C++ for critical components, including motor controllers, battery management systems, and sensing hardware.
- Develop Python tools to support hardware calibration and test automation.
- Contribute to the development of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) infrastructure.
- Assist with hardware and software integration tasks in the lab.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student (Senior) or recent graduate in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Fluency in C, C++, and Python.
- Experience implementing low-level software on bare-metal systems and RTOS.
- Strong knowledge of computer architecture.
- Understanding of communication buses and protocols such as Ethernet, Ethercat, Serial, CAN, or USB.
- Proficiency with lab instruments, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit debugging tools.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks; 1 to 2 terms preferred.
- Bonus: Experience with motor controllers, battery management systems, CI/CD infrastructure, Agile, or Test-driven development.

- Status: Full-time internship, paid ($40 - $45/hr).
