About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern at Fervo Energy, you will join the IT team to build and maintain internal software systems. You will be assigned a specific project on your first day and will own that work for the duration of the 12-week summer term. You will work alongside engineers to ship production code and solve business problems. At the end of the summer, you will present your results to department leads and executive leadership.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and maintain internal software applications and tools.
- Collaborate with IT and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ship solutions.
- Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
- Support the integration of internal systems with third-party platforms.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising Junior, Senior, Master's, MBA, or PhD candidate graduating within the next year.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt to new challenges.
- Experience with web frameworks, APIs, or databases is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure like AWS or Azure is a plus.
- Comfort working in an early-stage engineering environment.
