About the role#
As a Data Science intern, you will own a project scoped by your manager on your first day. You will work alongside engineers and data scientists to turn data into business decisions. You will spend the summer building models and analyses that support our drilling, operations, and commercial teams. At the end of the term, you will present your results to our executive leadership and department leads.
What you'll do#
- Explore and analyze datasets to find trends and opportunities.
- Build and validate predictive models and statistical analyses.
- Support the development of machine learning models for real-world business problems.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- You are a Master's or PhD candidate graduating within the next year.
- You are pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- You have proficiency in Python and libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable presenting to leadership.
- You are eager to learn, take initiative, and adapt to new challenges.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow is preferred.
- Familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools is helpful.
- You have an interest in applying data science to energy or industrial problems.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Houston, Texas.
- The term is for Summer 2027.
