About the role#
This internship program focuses on skills development and professional experience. You will work on projects similar to those handled by entry-level staff. You will receive continuous feedback and collaborate with team members at all levels to gain insight into a career in transportation consulting. Schedules are determined based on your availability and office needs.
What you'll do#
- Solve complex transportation planning or engineering problems.
- Work on projects such as traffic operations simulations, bicycle and pedestrian plans, freight movement planning, traffic impact studies, travel demand modeling, transit planning, and regional transportation plans.
- Communicate project findings clearly in writing and during community engagement settings.
- Use software to make informed recommendations.
- Adopt new tools and technologies while maintaining professional judgment and accountability for your results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a bachelor's program (junior or senior standing) or a master's degree.
- Relevant coursework in civil engineering, urban planning, statistics, economics, sociology, anthropology, graphic design, data science, or related fields.
- Strong interest in transportation planning or engineering principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in at least one of these tools: Microsoft Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, ArcGIS, statistical software (Stata, R, SPSS), traffic operations software (VISSIM, Synchro), design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation), or travel demand modeling software (TransCAD, Cube).
- A desire to partner with and serve local communities.

- Location: Seattle, Washington.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position at $24-30 per hour.
- Sick time: Accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
