About the role#
This summer internship program focuses on professional development and hands-on experience in transportation consulting. You will work alongside staff at all levels and take on tasks similar to those of entry-level employees. We provide continuous feedback to help you grow your skills and gain insight into the industry. This position is based in our Orlando office.
What you'll do#
- Solve complex transportation planning and engineering problems.
- Work on projects such as traffic operations simulations, bicycle and pedestrian plans, freight movement, traffic impact studies, travel demand modeling, transit planning, and regional transportation plans.
- Communicate project findings clearly in writing and through oral presentations, including in community engagement settings.
- Use specialized software to make informed recommendations.
- Adopt new tools and technologies while maintaining professional judgment and accountability for your results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a bachelor's (junior or senior standing) or master's degree program.
- A degree in civil engineering, transportation or urban planning, or a related field such as economics, sociology, statistics, anthropology, graphic design, data science, or geography.
- A strong interest in transportation planning or engineering principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a desire to serve local communities.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: Microsoft Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, ArcGIS, statistical software (Stata, R, SPSS), traffic operations software (VISSIM, Synchro), design and drafting software (AutoCAD, MicroStation), or travel demand modeling software (TransCAD, Cube).
- An openness to exploring new technologies.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: Paid position ($23-25 per hour).
- Sick time is accrued at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
