About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in transportation consulting. You will work alongside staff on projects and take on responsibilities similar to those of entry-level employees. Our program focuses on skill development through project collaboration and continuous feedback. This position is for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Solve complex transportation planning and engineering problems.
- Work on diverse projects including traffic operations simulations, bicycle and pedestrian plans, freight movement, traffic impact studies, travel demand modeling, and transit planning.
- Communicate project findings clearly in writing and during community engagement settings.
- Use software tools to make informed, timely recommendations.
- Adopt new technologies while maintaining critical thinking and professional judgment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a bachelor's (junior or senior standing) or master's degree program.
- Academic background in civil engineering, urban planning, economics, sociology, statistics, anthropology, graphic design, data science, or related fields.
- Interest in transportation planning and engineering principles.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: Microsoft Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, ArcGIS, statistical software (Stata, R, SPSS), traffic operations software (VISSIM, Synchro), design and drafting software (AutoCAD, MicroStation), or travel demand modeling software (TransCAD, Cube).
- A desire to partner with and serve local communities.

- Location: Dallas, Texas.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Full-time internship.
- Compensation: Paid position with sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
