About the role#
The Engineering Co-op or Intern works with our Plant Engineering Team to support manufacturing operations, capital projects, and process improvements. You will gain hands-on experience in project engineering, mechanical systems, automation, and process controls while working alongside our Operations, Maintenance, and Safety teams. This role involves solving practical business challenges and contributing to operational excellence across our facilities.
What you'll do#
- Support projects focused on safety, reliability, quality, capacity, and operational efficiency.
- Assist in the planning and execution of capital improvement projects.
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment evaluations, and technical analyses.
- Conduct field investigations, equipment inspections, and engineering studies.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, process flow diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Support commissioning and startup activities for new equipment and process changes.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and root cause investigations.
- Assist with asset reliability and preventive maintenance programs.
- Work on automation and process control projects, including potential exposure to DeltaV Distributed Control Systems.
- Help with process monitoring, data collection, and control system improvements.
- Prepare technical reports, project updates, and presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.
What you'll need#
- Current junior or senior standing in Chemical, Mechanical, Agricultural, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Genuine interest in manufacturing, process engineering, automation, or plant operations.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and industrial plant settings.
- Exposure to AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
