About the role#
The Manager, Student Programs at Fasken oversees the recruitment, development, and management of summer and articling students. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Legal Talent, this role ensures the effective operation of student programs while supporting the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. This is a permanent, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate student recruitment efforts, including law school outreach, career fairs, and marketing activities.
- Manage the student program, including orientation, onboarding, secondments, and continuing legal education.
- Oversee the work allocation program for summer and articling students, monitoring workloads to balance utilization.
- Manage the student program budget, including annual forecasting and reporting.
- Collect and review performance feedback for students and provide coaching and development support.
- Assist with the development of diversity and inclusion programs for the student talent pipeline.
- Draft contracts for interns, summer students, and articling students.
- Lead the Student Development Committee and assist with the day-to-day management of the professional development team.
What you'll need#
- A law degree and an undergraduate degree in a field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or Marketing are preferred.
- Required experience working in a law firm, with one or more years of professional development experience preferred.
- Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multi-faceted activities, programs, and projects with high attention to detail.
- Superior project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Compensation: $150,000 to $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
