About the role#
Core Engineering is a special projects team at Etched. You will identify critical gaps across the organization and build solutions from the ground up. This role is for engineers who thrive in ambiguous environments and want to solve problems that matter immediately. You will own a real project scoped to land in production, shaping how the company executes.
What you'll do#
- Build solutions from 0 to 1, often within days.
- Create internal tools to unblock hardware teams.
- Prototype systems for manufacturing execution.
- Design, evaluate, and deploy agentic systems for R&D problems.
- Ship production-level code.
What you'll need#
- A track record of solving hard problems across different stacks and domains.
- Ability to walk through an in-depth project you have built.
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
- Strong product sense, AI tooling skills, and design taste.
- A bias toward action and comfort working with incomplete information.
- Experience with data engineering, infrastructure, or DevOps.
- Experience deploying operational systems in enterprise environments.
- Experience using frontier models on complex problems with an eval-driven mindset.
- High agency and prior startup experience.
- Majors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
