About the role#
Enviva is looking for an Engineering and Operations Intern to join our team in Faison, North Carolina. You will work directly at our manufacturing facility, gaining hands-on experience by supporting process improvement projects and equipment reliability efforts. This role offers the chance to learn from experienced professionals in operations and maintenance while working on projects that affect plant efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Assist with process improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
- Collect and analyze technical data to support plant operations and equipment performance.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and project tracking systems to document and communicate your progress.
- Shadow team members to learn about capital project planning, reliability strategies, and continuous improvement techniques.
- Create or update standard operating procedures.
- Participate in plant meetings and improvement discussions.
- Support data collection during process trials and maintenance events.
- Help track and organize spare parts, tools, and equipment.
- Monitor equipment reliability, document maintenance tasks, and help troubleshoot basic issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Collaborate with safety and operations staff to maintain plant safety standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
- A GPA of 2.7 or greater.
- A strong interest in manufacturing and industrial systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in a plant environment, which may include hot, cold, or noisy conditions.
- Ability to walk, stand, or climb during plant tours and project work.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally with supervision.

- Location: Faison, North Carolina.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- You must follow all plant safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment.
